Enfield Fire District 1 Shares Holiday Cooking Safety Tips

Chief Edward N. Richards and Enfield Fire District No. 1 would like to provide safety tips to ensure residents stay safe while baking and preparing their holiday meals over the coming weeks.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Day, the day before Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas Eve.

“We encourage all residents to cook with caution this holiday season,” Chief Richards said. “Residents should remember to test their smoke alarms and never leave food unattended while it’s cooking. Following these simple tips will decrease the chance of a fire or holiday emergency. We wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving.”
