ENFIELD, Connecticut — Chief Edward Richards would like to invite the public to attend the 9/11 memorial ceremony at the Enfield Fire Rescue 9/11 Memorial Tribute Garden this week.

WHEN:

Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m.

WHERE:

Enfield Fire Rescue Station 2 9/11 Memorial Tribute Garden, 199 Weymouth Rd.

WHAT:

The Enfield Fire District will host a brief memorial ceremony in remembrance of those who died as a result of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and all those who have died serving their communities and our country.

Light refreshments will be served in the firehouse following the event.

“We are proud to hold this ceremony at our Memorial Garden which reminds us to never forget this tragedy, but also to admire the resolve of the American spirit in the days following,” Chief Richards said. “It’s important for us to continue to honor those who were lost on that day and in the aftermath of the attacks.”

Enfield Fire’s 9/11 Memorial Tribute Garden, built in 2008, features two large beams from the World Trade Center which were part of the support structure from the north face of the North Tower at about the 80th story level.
