Chief Edward Richards Wishes to Provide Residents with Resources to Make Homemade Personal Protective Equipment

ENFIELD — Enfield Fire District 1 Chief Edward Richards would like to provide the public with information about making homemade personal protective equipment.

“Since the COVID-19 public health crisis started, we’ve received tremendous support from members of our community; including people seeking to donate personal protective equipment to first responders,” Chief Richards said. “Personal Protective Equipment, like masks, gloves and gowns, is essential for the safety of both members of the department and the public they serve. I want to thank everyone who has reached out asking how they can help keep us safe.”

To help facilitate the donation of homemade equipment, Chief Richards is providing residents with a link to a step-by-step guide from ThermaXX, a Connecticut-based company which manufactures protective gowns.

Anyone who wishes to donate personal protective equipment can drop off donations at Enfield District 1 Fire Station at 200 Phoenix Avenue.

More information and resources are available from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the State of Connecticut.
