Chief Edward N. Richards is pleased to announce that Enfield Fire District 1 participated in aircraft fire training last night.

On Thursday evening, Aug. 20, Enfield Fire District 1 participated in aircraft fire training sponsored by Chief John Duffy and the Bradley International Airport Fire Department.

At the training, Enfield firefighters had the opportunity to take part in fighting simulated aircraft fires in a Mobile Aircraft Fire Training Simulator. The simulator uses propane fuel to provide aircraft fire scenarios, including interior and exterior fire situations in a 50-foot aircraft fuselage and a 1300 square-foot liquid spill fire.

Lt. Brian Ellis, Lt. Edward Shirley, Lt. Christopher Ellis and Firefighters Scott Gould, Edward Howell, Sean Richards, Matthew Aniolowski and Isaac Adelberg from the Enfield Fire Department all participated in the training.

The department was able to attend at no cost to the Enfield Fire District due to the department providing mutual aid support to Bradley International Airport Fire Department.

“We are extremely grateful to have had this opportunity to take part in this aircraft fire training simulation,” Chief Richards said. “Trainings such as this help equip and prepare our firefighters for possible scenarios that may arise on the job. We truly appreciate Chief Duffy and the Bradley International Airport Fire Department for inviting us to attend.”
