Chief Edward N. Richards reports that Enfield Fire District No. 1 responded to a serious crash between three motor vehicles Tuesday night.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., Enfield Fire District No. 1 responded to the area of Route 190 and I-91 for a report of a three-car motor vehicle crash with possible entrapment. Enfield Rescue 11 and Engines 14 and 16 responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a Hyundai Veloster, a Lexus sedan and a Jeep Cherokee SUV involved in the crash.
The operators of two of the vehicles, the Hyundai and the Lexus, were trapped and firefighters had to extricate them using hydraulic rescue tools.
The three operators were transported by Enfield EMS to area hospitals with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The three vehicles were towed from the scene.
Enfield Police also responded to close off the road and investigate the cause of the crash. Thompsonville Fire Department Squad 21 also responded to the scene.
The eastbound side of Route 190 was closed from Route 5 to Phoenix Avenue while crews worked to assist the victims and investigate the crash. The road reopened approximately two hours later.
