Enfield Fire District No. 1 recommends that residents stay alert and prepare to take the necessary safety precautions as Tropical Storm Henri is expected to track toward New England in the coming days.

Tropical Storm Henri is tracking closer to Connecticut and impacts are expected to increase this weekend and into Monday. If the storm track stays on its current course, the primary concern will be significant rainfall and flash flooding, although strong winds may still cause problems with downed trees and power lines.

Residents should prepare for power outages that may last several days, and they should also finalize assembly of their emergency plan and supplies. Any items in your yard that that could become airborne, such as flags, patio furniture and lawn ornaments should be removed or secured ahead of the storm.

Public Works has made an effort to clear storm drains, but if you have one near your property and notice it has become blocked with debris, your assistance to clear them could help prevent flooding in your neighborhood.

Below are links that will help you and your family prepare for the upcoming storm event. These links will give important information on what you should do before, during and after the storm.

As always, stay safe and if there’s an emergency call 9-1-1.
