Deputy Chief William Higgins reports that Enfield Fire District No.1 responded to a report of a car crash on Thursday evening.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Enfield firefighters responded to the scene of a car crash in the area of Route 5 by Post Office Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the driver of the vehicle was trapped inside the car due to a broken utility pole and live wires that were on and surrounding the vehicle.

Eversource responded to the scene to disconnect power to the lines. Once power was disconnected, firefighters safely extricated the driver from the vehicle. The driver was then transported to an area hospital.

The impact of the accident caused another utility pole fire and wires to drop at King Street and Depot Hill Road.
