ENFIELD — Deputy Chief William Higgins would like to invite community members to attend a SECOND offering of the Stop the Bleed community training course.

WHEN:

This Sunday, May 21, 9am to 11am (COURSE LENGTH IS LESS THAN TWO HOURS)

WHERE:

Enfield Fire Station 2, 199 Weymouth Road

WHAT:

Stop the Bleed training aims to train, equip, and empower bystanders to provide assistance during a bleeding emergency before first responders arrive. Time is a very important factor when individuals are suffering major blood loss.

The course will be presented using a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises. The topics covered will include identifying life-threatening bleeding, tourniquet application to extremities, wound packing, and the use of direct pressure.

This free, two-hour course is open to the public, however seats are limited. Those interested in attending must RSVP by emailing Administrative Assistant Rebecca Simonian-Luke at rluke@enfieldfire.org.

The Stop the Bleed campaign is based on lessons learned by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on how best to control severe bleeding. For more information about Stop the Bleed, click here.
