November Commission Meeting on November 13, 2025

The Enfield Fire District No. 1 will hold a special commission meeting on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 200 Phoenix Avenue.
The Enfield Fire District No. 1 Fire Commission wishes to recognize two longtime members of the department for their outstanding service and dedication.
Chief Edward N. Richards
Chief Richards began his career with the Enfield Fire Department as a volunteer on Oct. 6, 1970. He was hired full time and promoted to Deputy Chief of Training and Administration in the summer of 1990. In June 1992, he became the fifth Fire Chief in the department’s history. This year marks an incredible 55 years of service to the Enfield community.
Lieutenant Patrick Carfia
Lt. Carfia joined the department as a volunteer on Oct. 7, 1980, and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1993. He has served as a dedicated volunteer for 45 years, contributing countless hours to the department and community.
The Commission and department leadership congratulate both Chief Richards and Lt. Carfia on their milestone anniversaries and thank them for their longstanding commitment to public service.
Last week, Enfield Fire District No. 1 firefighters participated in aerial operations training at the Fire Station No. 2 training grounds. Training evolutions like this help firefighters maintain their skills and ensure they are prepared to safely and effectively operate ladder trucks during emergency responses.
The Enfield Fire District No. 1 is pleased to announce that it will be hosting an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, and AED Training. This training will be available at a discounted rate of $75 for the session.
The session will be on Sunday, Sept. 28, beginning at 8 a.m. and going for about 4-5 hours. The session will take place at EFD Headquarters on 200 Phoenix Ave. This session is capped at seven individuals and will fill up quickly.
All participants will receive a two-year AHA certification upon completion of the class, should they meet the requirements set forth by AHA.
All interested participants are encouraged to contact Firefighter Sousa to secure a spot via email at LSousa@enfieldfire.org. $75 is required in the form of cash or check made payable to the Enfield Fire District #1 to secure a spot and is non-refundable due to the size and discount of the class. Waiting lists will be available for more future classes offered.
