Enfield Fire District No. 1

September is recognized as National Preparedness Month by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). 

National Preparedness Month is observed to provide community members with the preparedness tools and strategies needed to handle emergencies or disasters.

In recognition of this occasion, Enfield Fire District No. 1 would like to remind the public of some ways to stay prepared:

Know your risk: Know your area and the natural disasters that could occur there (hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, blizzards, heatwaves, cold snaps, etc.)

Craft an emergency plan: Have a plan of action ready for any kind of disaster. Having a plan ready early helps save time, money, and stress during and after a disaster.

Build an emergency kit: Have enough food, water, clothing, and medical supplies to last you for the duration of the disaster. Ensure you have a battery-powered or hand-cranked radio in case of a power outage, so you can receive the latest news and updates from local law enforcement and government on the current situation.

Residents are encouraged to download the CTPrepares app to receive important updates during emergencies and power outages.

For a limited time, the Enfield Fire District No.1 is offering CPR training for $25 per person.

There are 12 spots per class, and payment can be paid by cash or check.

Two classes are currently scheduled for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 22, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 5.
