Earlier today, the Enfield Fire District No. 1 Marine Unit participated in a joint training exercise with the North Thompsonville, Shaker Pines and Thompsonville Fire District’s Marine Units, and alongside the Enfield Police Department, using drones to locate and rescue victims on the Connecticut River.
Enfield Fire District No. 1 would like to warn Enfield residents about current dangerous river and stream conditions. High water levels and fast moving river flows caused by the recent influx in rain has created difficult conditions that result in safety hazards for those boating or using paddle crafts such as canoes or kayaks.
Chief Edward Richards reports that Enfield Fire Rescue extinguished a structure fire and rescued a woman from the Connecticut River within the span of one hour on Sunday, Nov. 17.
